about

As civil unrest continues to become a normal aspect of American life I began to study the impact and long-term affects of protesting. Protests, violent or civil, are intended to rattle the system, to show the establishment the power of communities coming together in an effort to force change. But how effective are they? Since 2015 several CEOs and Portfolio Managers, most famously Brian McMillan of Commonwealth Financial Network, boasted that even long-term violence and political unrest does little to rattle markets. In 2020 as unrest defined the Summer season, several politicians again celebrated the strength of the state of Wall Street. What's known is that our current dystopia, the horrific reality of daily life that includes financial uncertainty, stress, and turmoil, is a much different reality than it is for those at the "top." The current system acts as forcefield that protects them. You cannot fix the master's house with the master's tools.
